Cerma Requires Carbon Acid to activate properly, For best results add Cerma to Semi dirty oil, then drive on the treated oil for a min. of 1000 to 1500 miles before changing the oil Filter only. Diesel engines should drive Min. of 2000 to 4000 miles before changing the oil filter only, in both cases the longer the treatment is in the system the better the results.
2. Treating Engine.
If possible add Cerma STM-3 with the engine running. If blow-by or pressurized oil system is present shut engine off, add product, replace oil filler cap and immediately restart engine. In all cases, immediately after adding Cerma, replace oil filler cap and bring your engine up to 1500 to 2000 RPM and hold for 5-10 minutes. This procedure will ensure that Cerma circulates. Cerma does not mix with your oil! The oil is only a carrier of the product and as the oil is circulated Cerma will coat the metal. In many cases, you will hear and feel when the STM-3 coats the action points and friction surfaces by a sudden and immediate reduction in engine noise and vibration. Now continue to run engine for no less than 30 minutes. Preferred method is to drive the vehicle for approximately 20 - 30 miles, in this case more is better, run as long as possible after initial treatment, but no less than 30 min.
For best results Do Not Shut Engine Off for at Least 30 Minutes with diesel engine run for at least 1-hour after adding Cerma STM-3 to your oil.
3. Change Motor Oil Filter only at no less than 1000 to 1500 miles after adding Cerma.
Then change oil at the manufacturer's recommended interval. At first oil change after Cerma STM-3 treatment, use Cerma Nano* oil conditioner if desired.
Note: Cerma STM-3 Ceramic Catalyst is a One Time Treatment.
4. Transmissions, Power Steering, Differentials. Add required amount and drive.
Known issues with use of Cerma STM-3 engine treatment. Cerma STM-3 is intended to help your engine by impregnating a ceramic (silicon Carbide, SiC) coating into the metal. This provides a near perfect cylinder seal which increases compression. If you maintain your car/truck as prescribed by the manufacturer you should have no problems. If after treatment you notice a change for the better, then after about 150 miles you notice a slight misfire at idle or poor fuel mileage then chances are you have old/faulty spark plugs or wires. Changing spark plugs and wires is sometimes required, if proper maintenance has not been followed as recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle.
Question: Why would Cerma STM-3 make me have to change my spark plugs?
Answer : When compression goes up it will cause more resistance and load on your ignition system parts. If they are marginal or needed replacing prior to treatment, they may fail due to increased compression within your engine that will result in higher resistance on your ignition.(path of least resistance)
Replacing the fuel filter will also insure proper pressure and fuel atomization in the combustion chamber. You may notice a slight increase in engine temperature which is the result of higher compression, better combustion, and the heat transfer capabilities of Cerma STM-3 to the water jacket. Emission improvements will begin manifesting at 100 miles and stabilize at several hundred miles as piston rings reseal on a ceramic base. Installation Instructions Warning: This product must be administered as detailed below or the product will not work as designed.
Tip: Cerma products are true Metal Treatments for use in Engines, Cerma DOES NOT MIX WITH OIL and therefore you must follow instructions to the letter to benefit the results as promised. Failure to follow instructions will led to Cerma resting in the bottom of the oil pan, and not treating the metal within your equipment or engine.
It is preferable to add Cerma with STM-3 while the engine is running. This aid's the reaction time but it is not absolutely necessary.
If you must add to a none running Engine? Start Engine within 10 seconds of adding Cerma to the oil. Failure to follow instructions will result in less than favorable results
Note: (Treating the entire vehicle will result in reduction of friction and wear and help to achieve maximum overall efficiency and protection. This is a "One time treatment.")
